Crafted in luxurious taupe suede, these Doucals penny loafers boast a tapered silhouette and timeless styling. Featuring 'sacchetto' construction and apron detailing, they are meticulously designed for both elegance and comfort. The 'sacchetto' construction method is a technique that allows for the creation of particularly comfortable footwear. This manufacturing process, following the standards of the most authentic Italian shoemaking tradition, involves steps that require great skill, experience, and expertise. Sacchetto refers to ‘small bag’, so it feels like a slipper, yet appears like a shoe that may be worn outside. During the stitching phase, the leather lining is attached like a “bag” along the edge, enabling the construction of a shoe without the rigid components used in most shoes. Stitching on shoes with this construction allows us to remove all of those inflexible features and make soft slipper-like shoes that look just as nice as your favorite shoe. Once the upper, lining, and insole are stitched together, the shoe is pulled over a shoe last, which is a form in the shape of a foot. The shoe is carefully stretched and secured onto the last, to maintain its shape during the final stages of production. The shoe is then subjected to a heating process that helps it maintain its form. Finished with a leather sole in the brand's signature Golden Cream hue, complete with a rubber half insole for added traction.
